The Judging Process

The MJ Awards judging process takes places in two parts.

Stage One

Once the entry deadline has passed our awards team will collate all entries for each category and send them to the sponsor of that category and their judges. The sponsors and their judges then have 4 weeks to decide their 6-8 finalists (6-8 local authorities that meet the category criteria & deserve the opportunity of winning their category award) and any commended (6-8 local authorities that don't quite meet the criteria as a finalist due to the higher standard of other entries. Judges feel their projects should be mentioned within the finalist brochure, encouraging them to enter again next year).

Stage Two

All finalists (3 per local aurthority) will be invited to a judging day that will take place between 9th April and 7th May. It will be located centrally and a 30 minute timeslot (15 mins presentation and 15 minute Q&A) will be given to each finalist to discuss their project. From this judging day the judges will decide one winner plus any highly commended (Recognising any finalists that didn’t make it as a winner but judges think deserve a mention within the awards ceremony speech, encouraging them to enter again next year).

Winners and highly commended are then announced at the awards on 27th June 2018.

Judges and the judging days to be confirmed direct to the finalists.
